SIG – General Interest Group

Meets: Monthly, February – November; second Tuesday at 7:00 p.m.  (virtually)
Purpose: This SIG is for those interested in using various genealogical tools or are seeking additional information on a particular genealogy topic.  Topics will be decided upon by the members of the group in coordination with the leader.  Karen will use a variety of resources from subject matter experts on YouTube to individuals sharing their experience and knowledge on the selected topic.  Occasionally an outside subject matter expert may be called upon for their expertise.

Past topics have included: FindaGrave, Ancestry.com.

Join us and we can all work together on our trees and leave with additional knowledge.

logo - findagrave.comFind-A-Grave is a free online virtual cemetery from 244 countries with about 190 million Memorials.  It is the world’s largest database of cemetery memorials and for 25 years, volunteers have been working together to find, catalog, and share grave information.  It is now a global community dedicated to helping document all cemetery memorials in the world and even creates a cenotaph memorial for someone who wasn’t buried in a cemetery.  It even has a Pet virtual cemetery.   You will learn how to:

  • Create and edit a memorial page,
  • Attach relatives’ memorials to a memorial,
  • Make a virtual cemetery of all your relatives,
  • And more.
