Special Interest Groups
Our BGS Special Interest Groups (SIGs) are communities within our broader organization that serve to support our members that have a mutual interest in a specific genealogical area. They typically meet monthly depending on the interests of the members and the group’s facilitator. These SGIs aim to advance knowledge in a specific field of genealogy in the group by:
- Offering opportunities for discussion, questions, and sharing of information, skills and experiences among genealogists.
- Having subject matter experts share their knowledge.
Volunteer Opportunities! We would love to form several more SIGs,
but we need to recruit a leader or facilitator for each group.

General Interest Group
Purpose: This SIG is for those interested in using various genealogical tools or are seeking additional information on a particular genealogy topic. Topics will be decided upon by the members of the group in coordination with the leader. The leader will use a variety of resources from subject matter experts on YouTube to individuals sharing their experience and knowledge on the selected topic. Occasionally an outside subject matter expert may be called upon for their expertise.
