The Broomfield Genealogy Society will be holding its third ZOOM session of the year on Beginning FindaGrave. If you haven’t visited FindaGrave.com, you are missing a wonderful site. FindaGrave is a free online virtual cemetery, which includes 244 countries and about 190 million memorials. You can add personal pictures and even link to other family members. Odds are your grandparent’s cemetery markers are noted, if not, you can add them yourself or request that someone adds them into the database for you.

Sessions are limited to 12 people.  A Zoom meeting invite will be sent out to those who register. Registration must be received before March 8. To register for this session, please complete the following information and click the Register button.

Beginning Genealogy Class, 2021

Saturday, March 27, 2021, 10:00 am to Noon, via Zoom

Presented by Carol Darrow, Professional Genealogist

Sponsored by Broomfield Genealogy Society

Now is a great time to start a genealogy journey. There are many online options for researching your families’ history. FamilySearch.com offers free searches and the ability to find more information already discovered by others, and even find pictures of your ancestors. Ancestry.com is now allowing access to a lot of its records. FindaGrave.com will let you find cemetery stones and even make a virtual cemetery of all your ancestors, you can even leave flowers! Join Professional Genealogist Carol Cooke Darrow as she guides you to techniques that allow you to discover your roots.

Family Tree

Listening to Carol’s presentations and her advice allowed me to successfully conduct the initial research of the family trees of both my father and mother. Her guidance and encouragement helped me write a book about my mother’s genealogy–much of which had been lost with the family’s emigration to the U.S.
— Sandra Gill, Thornton

This is a course for the beginner. Attendees will be introduced to thinking genealogically through the exploration of the following:

  • Introduction to the census using Ancestry.com
  • Pedigree Charts and Family Group Sheets
  • Other Major Record Groups

The class will be done via a ZOOM virtual meeting. If you need guidance for ZOOM, please let us know by emailing  President@BroomfieldGenSoc.org.

You need to register in advance to get a confirmation email about joining the ZOOM meeting by submitting the payment below.
